smallfry458 Lott build
If a guy wanted to build a 458 Lott on a new Win M 70 stainless action, what modification would he have to do, and what caliber of the donner would be the least problematic?

jeffeossohey buddy ... we've done this convo about 30 times.. hit find then put in model 70 and lott
you need an hh mag box and spring and follower, as well as bolt stop...
you may or may not have to machine the rear bridge
DO add a barrel recoil lug, double cross bolts, wrist pin, and have it bedded..
i believe duane makes a bottom metal for that purpose, as well as an extended depth one

Dan416Hello smallfry, You might consider making it a 458 AR instead.
-start with any belted mag original rifle
-keep the magazine
-more velocity than the Lott is possible
-feed rails might need adjusting but that's all. I really like headspacing on a shoulder.

Venture SouthStick with the Win Mag. It works just fine the way it is.

Tapper2Hunting the box H is correct. Buy a .458WM the new powders make the Lott obsolete. It's more than is needed for anything in Africa or elsewhere. The Lott had a reason when Jack Lott built it, but not now. If you want it just because, go for a .460 Wby, it's even bigger. I have all three and only use the .458WM...........Tom

Got a 460. I just wanted a new build in 458. I would like to do a 378 wby on a model 70 if I could get it to hold 3 down LOL
