Rob HHeadstamp question-who is the manufacture for "BB" brass
I have some unfired brass that when bullets are seated, the necks are cracking. Would like to contact the manufacturer but I am not sure who it is. The stamp on the case is "BB".
These are 505 Gibbs and they are loaded with 505 caliber bullets. Here is a photo:

Rob HOh yeah, I am thinking they are made by Bertrum Bullets, but not sure. Is that right?

Rob HYeah, I was thinking I should have grabbed a photo of the headstamp before I left the house. I'll check tonight and post it.
Come to think of it, there might be a kangaroo on the stamp. I'll check that tonight.

500NBB is def Bertram.
Those cases don't look like they are annealed.
Also, just remember that BB does sell "seconds" on the market so quite often problems occur but they may be seconds and that is why they are sold cheap.
Not saying yours are but some people don't say they are seconds when selling them cheap, they just take advantage of people wanting a bargain.

Rob HThe cases are not annealed. I have 20 others that are annealed. Do they usually come from Bertram annealed, or is that done after the fact?

It seems to vary.
I have seen some annealed and some not. BUT, I don't take a whole heap of notice as I don't use BB brass unless absolutely necessary so generally don't buy it or take much notice to see if it is "Good" or Seconds.
However from memory I think the good brass that comes in BB Red boxes is annealed but someone else might light to confirm that.

Rob HI just sent a note to the e-mail address above and it bounced - not the end of the world. Just curious what they would say more than anything.

tenmikemikeJust take your remaining good brass, put them standing up in a shallow pan of water up to just below the shoulder and hit them with a hand torch or maybe MAP gas until the neck changes color.
Voila, annealed brass!
Saw this in a RCBS reloading guide (maybe my old #10 YEARS ago?)
