Hog KillerWanted: Load data for Lott/545gr GC cast bullet
I will be shooting a Lyman 545gr gas checked bullet, in my Lott. I would like to be shooting it at around 2100-2200fps. I would like to use IMR-4895(plenty on hand).
Does anyone have any load data that would fit?

ptaylorHere is some from my 458ar. Its not a lott but very close for case capacity. N530 is very similar in burn rate to IMR4895 as well.
"Here is some more 458ar data:
Mt. Baldy 550gr cast bullet gas checked, 75gr N530, COAL or 3.170", avg. three shot velocity 2159 fps. Accuracy was not very good.
This load generated some of the worst recoil I have yet to feel behind a rifle, and yet the primers were still round and the cases fell from the chamber, WOW! I will let my friends shoot the remaining loads and swith to xmp5744 for a more reasonable plinking load."

jeffeossoOUCH - Peyton, you've had some beatings, too! .. worst recoil felt is scary!

mstarlingYouch!
The .458 AR seems to be limited more by how much recoil you are willing to sustain rather than finding max pressure. I've always stopped when I have a load that will do what I think I want rather than going for max ... guess it's that lack of masochism in my character.
For example, Jeffe reports getting a 500 gr bullet to 2374 fps on AmmoGuide... don't think I've seen a Buf that needs that kind of killin' ... so I'm happy with less velocity or less weight (a 425 at 2400 is fine with me).

jeffeossoMike,
I generally load to 2200, which is lowish pressure and darn accurate, but I think there's 2400 there, if someone REALLY wants it ..
I don't!

ptaylorNo matter how tight I held onto the wrist of my ruger the bolt was still smashing my knuckles!! and I consider myself a tough guy. When it comes to recoil, not so much.
I've since toned it way way down with XMP5744 with the 550 and 350gr hornadys at 2200 for hunting.
