OK for those who wanted to see the carnage for themselves here is a picture.
The first bullet is a 400gr .416 wOODLEIGH, The second is a 850 gr. AAA Bore rider for my .50 BMG bench gun. The third is a 570 gr >510 Woodleigh, the fourth bullet is a recovered 570 gr Woodleigh after penetrating 15 inches of wet oak log( the log weighed about 30-40lbs and was thrown off its stand}, recovered bullet weighed 470 grs and had mushroomed to 1.2 inches and the last is a 600 gr Barnes .510 monolithic solid.

Pretty impressive, you and Mike have caused me to decide to build a big banger myself.

Regards PC.

Rob,
That bullet looks quite a bit like one of A-Sq's early Dead Toughs I shot into a water-box. I do not have it with me but maybe if I remember I'll put it up when I get home. Keep up the good work.

Rob,

Do you plan to try the 570 gr X bullet?

I'm planning on trying them in my 500 Jeffrey, but the woodleighs look right impressive as well!

PaulH- Frankly I'm not a fan of X bullets as I've never gotten them to do anything other than foul my bore. I've never gotten better than mediocre accuracy in any of my guns and so now avoid them. I really like Woodleigh's and use them exclusively for hunting dangerous game. I can't wait to see what this 500 A square does to a buff.-Rob

Does anyone ever shoot cast lead bullets in this round at "plinking" velocities (1900 FPS or less)? When my gun and dies arrive, I plan to start out easy.

fla3006,
Yup, use 35 grains XMP-5744 with 575 grain cast gas-checked bullet gives me around 1150 fps.
I sent a bunch of reduced velocity loads to Saeed for inclusion in the reloading pages but they haven't been put up yet.

I'll be working up loads with a 450 gr LFN bullet with my 500 Jeffrey, when I get it. I plan on some 1100-1300 fps loads with Unique and 2400, and some 1800-2000 fps loads with RL 7. I'll post them on the favorite loads forumn when I get them worked up.
