OK, I've got a revolver in 475 linebaugh, but would love to have a compact leveraction in this caliber that holds 8-10 rounds. I'm aware that Rossi made the puma 480 ruger and I owned one for a short time, but the thing could not hit paper at 50 yards, (which was a shame cause otherwise it was awsome) and I would like it to actually handle the linebaugh cartridge.
Does anyone know of any lever actions chamber for this round or even anyone that does conversions to this round?

Well, I know of two places that are doing it. Mic McPherson worked with Ben Forkin to develop one. I have no personal experience with him, just passing it on.

Regan Nonneman of Maryville, MO, also did the conversion at one time. I don't know if he still does it, but I have fired one of his 1894's in 475 Linebaugh, and it functioned flawlessly. I checked his website and he doesn't list it, but it might be worth a call.

Jack Huntington has done it before, I have it. A 92 is a better choice than a 94

David Clay does a 500 JRH conversion, so I would say he could probably do a 475 Linebaugh conversion.

Isn't that on the small side for you?

David Clay did one for me and it was sweet(Big Doggy above now has it)He is very good and is doing some 50/110 BARs for me and BigDoggy(also 458Lotts)....I have to say IF you go to Reagan Nonneman,PLEASE get a contract first and make sure all is clear...I had some real problems(as did others)...Lets say after 2 1/2 years and help from the local police,I got my rifle back and had to get another smith to correct many things before it was shootable!He may be a nice guy and a good smith(?),but it was a bad dream for me!

The 475 it too high a pressure round for most lever guns with full house loads. The one that Jack Huntington built sits about ten feet from my bench with the firing pin removed. With full loads the action started to spring. Yes,you can reduce the loads, but liability wise any gunsmith would be foolish to let somthing like that out of his shop. Some future owner may not know or understand it's limitations. The 500 JRH is a medium pressure round and will go into lever guns just fine and has more power to too. I saw the one Clay built and the work was first rate.

I don't think the 500 JRH is lower enough pressure than the 475 Linebaugh to matter, not when the loads are over 1400 FPS for the 500 JRH

How do you define more power, there is very little dioference in the 2 IMHO and experience, both are great cartridges.

366torque, The 500 JRH by David Clay, has a 16 1/4" barrel. It is a cute little thing and handles great. It is one of my fun little toys.
