They sell them at Wal-Mart Supercenters for under $5 They are 3" wide, has quick release buckle, and holds 50 rounds if your man enough to carry them [Big Grin] . I loaded mine once with .411JDJ and never made it out of the house before removing all but 10 [Wink] .

retreever,

If you are going to do it, do it right. I purchased an African style "culling" belt to hold my 416 Rigby rounds. It is made of elephant hide and holds about 20 rounds.

These belts are brought back from Zimbabwe and can be had in buffalo, hippo and elephant hide. They are very cool and would be great for a 458 Lott. I can email a photo if you like.

If you are interested, let me know and I will put you in touch with the right person. They run about $120+.

I'm running off to work right now, but I will try to take a picture of it when I get home tonight and then post the picture here.

Trader Keiths has a canvas culling belt for about $50. It's good quality.

The problem with canvas belts is that they stretch, especiall if used in the rain. Then the cartridges start slipping through the loops.

The other problem is that the cartridges get dirty.

Personally I prefer a leather cartridge case that has a closeable top so that I can keep my ammo clean and dry (sort of).

I have an all leather belt for my .585 Nyatti rounds it holds 25 rounds and it looks quite good.

I have used an elastic one for my .375 & .458 lott, .416 etc but I think I might get round specific ones for these as well.

If someone could point me to a thread (I know there have been a few) on how to post pictures, I will post a couple of the elephant skin belt I have. It holds 24 rounds of my .416 Rigby. I think I paid about $125 for it.

Thanks

Tim

Tim,

I got your photos and am impressed with the belt. When the work situation picks up I may get one. I like the fact that it's made out of elephant hide.

How tight does it hold your rounds is there much slop or does elephant hide stretch at all ??

Thanks PC

I made mine with two of cabelas $6.00 belts sewed together and the bottom loops sewed shut to prevent fall threws...I like it better than any belt I have ever used...It will work for any caliber depending on how far they are seperated based on cartridge length....I have sent photos to several guys here, and posted them at one time on the Afrian forum I think....total cost ran about $20.00...Had them sewed at the saddle shop...

RomaRana,

I sent you an email regarding the belt.

PC,

The belt seems to hold the shells very tight. I have only used it a couple of times and it worked great. I don't know if the elephant skin will end up stretching, but if I had to guess right now, I would say that it doesn't.

Ray,

Here are the photos of your belts. I thought I'd pulled them off my server to free up space. But I must have been too lazy...

Thanks Steve...The black belt has worked the best for me as it does not shrink, I don't have to deal with vertigre that leather creates and I can leave ammo in it indefinatly...

Rounds can be pulled out very easily, but don't work or fall out when you toss it around.. The stretch nylon has a memory and never gets loose...they don't up and fall out while your hunting and with the bottom sewed shut they fall through...When you yank on a round the belt does not come up....All these reasons came from experience and lead up to my making this belt....

The green belt was made someplace in Zimbabwe and its a great design but tends to get loose and require a dunk in the tub to shrink it back up from time to time.....I like them both, but prefer the black one.

Take a look at their belts. I have one for each of my "hunting" calibers. Their workmanship is fantastic and you can't beat their prices. No, I don't work for them, I just know a good thing when I get my hands on it.
