For those shooting a Weatherby Mark V in 378 Weatherby or in a cartridge of equal or more recoil, what brand of scope bases/rings have you found to be trouble free (i.e., no loosening or scope slippage)?

Warne on a 8 pound 338 Lapua. Recoil isn't quite as fierce, but it is pretty nasty.

Just use the Leupold QRW rings, or Warne Maxima, or Badger, or etc., on any cross-slot Weaver style base you want, picatinny one-piece rail or two piece base. Built in 20 MOA tilt on the rail is nice, for long range work. With the picatinny rail you can use 2, 3, or 4 rings.

I have a buddy that has a 378, 416 and 460 and he uses Talley on all of them. The 378 & 416 with Vari X III 2.5 X 8 and the 460 has a 1.5 X % Vari X III on it. So far so good. The 416 does not have a brake on it. BigB

Weatherby used to use Buehlers, if that means anything.

Used a pair on mine - no problems.

Back in the ancient days I used Redfield one one, B&L one one and Griffin and Howe on another. No problem with any of them, but I liked the G & H best, but it had irom sights available as did the one with B & L. No scope problems either.

I have 2000 rounds out of my 378 (no muzzle break). Leupold q/r have worked and without a single problem.

It's not usually the mount that fails, it is usually the screws. I use put locktite on the bottom of all my scope mounts, helps to glue them down a bit. I don't recommend you do this with Redfield type dual post mounts, if the scope doesn't line up you have quite a bit of work to do. At least do a dry run first.

PRW surface area is a nice way to fly and mounts lower than most of the ring/rail ilk...especially if considering 30mm glass.

My .378 (on a Bauska action) wore EAW Claws and a S&B 1.5-6 --No issues for the 13+ years I had it. .338 LM wears a NightForce in Leupold Tactical rings on a Picatinny base DuggaBoye-O NRA-Life Whittington-Life TSRA-Life DRSS DSC HSC SCI

I suffer MK4 rings in various applications,but much favor Badger and especially Seekin's,when crowding a comb. I'd avoid a 1913 rail like the plague,on a two poke repeater.

Mop needed on aisle 5. | |||

2pc base needed,as opposed to one. Do wax eloquent on your 378,I'm sure the commentary would be "riveting".
