In this day of crappy service - I just threw a Sears repairman off my property - I wanted to let you all know about my recent LIMBSAVER experience. I replaced the useless OE recoil pad on my Ruger RSM .458Lott with a LIMBSAVER pad about 5-6 years ago. It never fit exactly and it began deteriorating over time. Turns out they had a "bad" shipment of the composition material back then. I recently called them about the recoil pad deterioration and also the fit. They had me return the pad along with the stock from my rifle. I was contacted when they received the stock. They added a spacer I requested and replaced the pad with a "grind to fit" which their technicians actually fit to the Ruger stock for me. The stock was returned within a few days. All at no charge whatsoever and the work was excellent. I honestly believe the firearms/hunting industry provides some of the best customer service on the market today. Thanks LIMBSAVER. Glad I caught this. I was just packing up three of their recoil pads to ship back. I wonder if they will repair all the damage from the goo left in my gun safe and gun rack. What a mess! The guns were actually glued to the carpet in my safe and the wood on my rack. It took all I had to break them loose.

Don't rest the recoil pad on the carpet. Use something else as the base in a gun safe. Sometimes carpets have chemicals in them that compound the problem.

Wonder if their tremendous customer service extends to replacing my carpet in the room where the damn pads melted into the carpet and ruined it? Mike

I have 100+ rifles resting on carpet or in a gun rack made of wood. Three of them had problems. All had Limbsaver recoil pads. I think there's a pattern here. Carpet didn't cause the problem as two of the guns were on wood.

I have been aware for some years that this was a problem with a large number of Limbsaver customers. I was also aware that SVL was correcting the problems by replacing the pads via exchange at no cost. As related in the OP, I only recently requested an exchange. They couldn't have been more helpful. If you have other issues, I suggest you contact them. Mike ______________ DSC DRSS (again) SCI Life NRA Life Sables Life Mzuri IPHA "To be a Marine is enough."

Many thanks for the OP Lionhunter. I contacted them today and they are replacing two of the pads. I also sent them a stock that had a grind to fit pad. They will replace and fit that pad as well. They didn't mention sending the stock in to have it fitted until I asked. So thanks for your post as it saved me a trip to a gunsmith and the expense of having it done.

Yes i store all mine muzzle down too, actually helps to fit more in the safe . On the replacement, i have had one fitted to my 458 AccRel for about 2 years now, pulled it out the other day and noticed it has started to go gooey on one side, contacted my Limbsaver rep and he is sending me a new one, no problems at all, they have my custom . In TEXAS, store your long guns with the muzzle down and your ball point pens with the points up. The heat will get all sooner or later. Good luck

I have a Decelerator on the Taylor. Is the Limbsaver any better? I would consider a swap if it were a better choice.
