I have a nice 375 H&H pre 64 Win 70 and most likely will never use it outside the USA unless I hit the lottery. In other words, I really don't need a 375, but have one and may as well use it. I will be using it primarily against PA Black Bears ranging in weight from 200-700 pounds. It could be handy if I come upon one of those bigger boys! I currently load 300 gn Nosler Partitions and 300 gn Hornady Roundnose as well as the newer DGX. I have a full box of WW Silvertips that I keep for nostalgia but see some for sale from time to time and remember that they were the bullet back in the 1960's when I was watching, Grits Gresham, Curt Gowdy, Joe Foss and others on the American Sportsman. Gees I wish shows like that were on today! They took the time to show the gun, scope and ammo that they were using. They used to taught the 264 Win Mag back then for this or that, but I never bit. I did bite on the 375 H&H from those shows. Bottomline, are the 300 gn Silvertips in 375 H&H a viable choice for my needs? PA Bear Hunter, NRA Benefactor

I'm with you on A/S, it was a great show! I think the Silvertips are fine for North American game and if I had a supply of them, I would not hesitate to use them on African plains game. DRSS(We Band of Bubba's Div.) N.R.A (Life) T.S.R.A (Life) D.S.C.

I would say so, too - but based only on what I have read about them, and not on first-hand experience. Among others, Jack Lott loved that bullet for big game - other than thick-skinned dangerous game, and shoulder bone shots on Cape buffalo. For bear, my bet is that it will do the trick. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.
