I've never heard of one for the 1917. Doug Humbarger NRA Life member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club 72'73. Yankee Station Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

Numerich used to sell magnum length boxes for the 1917/P-14. I don't think they have had them in years. They worked but were low end. I don't know of any being offered for sale today. My advise, and I learned this the hard way...if your gunsmith can't make a magazine box for the action find someone else to do the work.

It is a very simply process of taking the original apart and reattaching the ends on the outside length of the sides. I also had a local guy cut some thin gauge metal and build me a couple at Lott length. Frank

Brownells Catalog 64. Look at the top upper left of page 172. This might work for you. The manufacturer is listed as Wyatt Outdoors.

What cartridge are you trying to adapt it to? Use the 3 cartridge rubber band trick to establish the box width( max width of the 3cartridges in the stack plus 0.030) and length( OAL plus 0.030). Its easy to lengthen a 1917 mag box, its the width thats the issue. was going to make it a 458 win mag and then decided to go 458 LOTT. I don't think width will be a problem, just length.

Send me a PM with your email address and I will send you pics of 2 that I have (not for sale) that are simply sheet metal cut and bent to the proper configuration. If you like them I can make you a paper traceing so you can have your local sheet metal shop cut and bend you one. The method utilizing the original box and rewelding the ends further out does not work well.

Best thing to do is have your gunsmith build you one. I have 1917 off right now that is becoming a 404 Jeffery. It will have 4 down and fit within the standard straightened floor plate trigger guard profile - custom magazine box and receiver work required. I finally found an aftermarket box for the 1917/1914 enfolds complete with detailed milling instructions on how to convert to H&H length cartridges. The only problem is I only found one and need 3. I have a local sheet metal place to make new ones but they want to do a minimum of 50. I don't have a problem making 50 as long as I can sell the excess to break even? Do you thnk there is an interest for these? They are going to run between 15-18 dollars wen finished.

I would go for three if you want to start a list. That's how many 17's I have that could be converted. Frank
