Well, "Baby", my 500 Jeffery has just come back from the gunsmith and finally functions flawlessly after several tries and several gunsmiths. Harlan worked on it some, Wayne did some feed ramp work and finally Kevin Weaver replaced the follower and machined it which finally closed the deal. I have no doubts Harlan and Wayne's work contributed to the success as well. The rifle has always shot exceptionally well as far as accuracy goes, but until last night, I have always had doubts about it's functioning (not a good thing with a dangerous game rifle!).

So anyway, success, now to go to the range this weekend and sight it in. My son and I plan to go chasing Hogzillas next month. Him with our new Rem XCR II in 375 Weatherby (also worked on by Kevin) and me with the 500 Jeffery. The Rem XCR II will go to Alaska with me in Sept.

Regards,

Chuck

Congrats Chuck! I purchased CZ in 500 Jeffery a few months ago after a bad experience with a high dollar custom rifle in the same caliber a couple of years ago. Long story short, neither rifle fed 100%, the custom rifle went back to its maker and the CZ is currently being rebarreled to a .500 A-Square, as it feeds big Weatherby brass just fine.

I really like the Jeffery, but after two failed attempts at getting a rifle that feeds correctly, I'm thinking maybe its just not in the cards for me. Glad to hear that you got yours sorted out, hopefully it will give you a lifetime of faithful service.

Guys, sorry to hear you had problems. I also have a CZ 500 Jeffery and haven't had a lick of trouble with it. I usually shoot 535 grain Woodleighs, softs and solids but it even feeds the 535 grain Barnes flat nose solids without a hiccup. I stay away from the heavier 600 grain bullets but I bet the 600 grain Woddleighs would feed perfectly as well. Good luck and good shooting.

I have a CZ .505 Gibbs and went with AHR's single stack magazine with a Rigby type floorplate for 3 down. I bet it would work well for anyone with .500 Jeff feeding problems.

Hi Dave, maybe the issue was that mine started out as a 375 H&H and I had it rebarreled. I tested mine last night with 570g, TSX's 570g Barnes Banded Solids, 535g Woodleigh Soft Points, and 500g semi-wad cutter cast bullets. It feeds them all now, mix and match it doesn't matter. While it took some trial and tribulations, quite frankly it wasn't costly. Harlan worked on it for free since he did the conversion to 500 Jeffery, Wayne definitely improved it at very little cost (the shipping was more), and Kevin charged me very little as well. As far as I'm concerned they're all great particularly when you send them a gun someone else has already worked on.

Great individuals all.

Regards,

Chuck
