Can a CRF M70 action be turned into a .416 Rigby? WHat donor action is needed?

They say that the Winchester Custom Shop has done that before, once or twice, but I cannot verify it. Must not be such a good idea. That would have been a Winchester M70 Classic, though Pre-64 M70's could have been butchered for these. Go whole hog and make it a Winchester M70 Classic Stainless. Not even I am that desperate for a Stainless Magnum action, however. Still waiting for someone to make a Magnum Mauser 98 in stainless.

Yes, it can and so can the std M-98 action.. Today in Africa, PH Paul Zorn hunts with his 416 Rigby in a modified standard M-98 Mauser and it is one fine rifle... I have seen and shot several M-70 pre 64s in the .416 Rigby..Its a squeeze I presume, but it works quite well in the guns I have inspected, they all had drop magazines but I don't recall call the capacity. If I were to build myself a .416 I would however opt for a larger action such as a magnum mauser M-20 or something on that order..If I wanted one in a M-70 or Mauser 98 then I would opt for one of the balistic twins like the .416 Rem. or the .416 Ruger...I have a custom M-98 in .416 Ruger btw..I also have a .416 Rem in a 98...
