I took the plunge yesterday. Got to pull the trigger on my Ruger #1 .375 H&H. What a blast (no pun intended)!!!

I realize the 375 is on the low end of the big bore scale, but I may be hooked now!

Recoil wasn't nearly what I thought it would be...so I was pleasantly surprised.

As far as the rifle goes...accuracy was great (though I only shot at 50 yards)...3 shot groups with Remington 270 gr. core lokts was one ragged hole....can't wait to move back to a hundred and start hunting dangerous whitetails....;>Wink

Oh my ... another victim of the disease. What a great sadness for your pocketbook Big Grin First it starts with a .375 ... then an .416 ... then a double rifle or .458. It just NEVER ends!

(Surely is a lot of fun though.)

Welcome to the club of formerly sane folks!

Ken, just remember that the more you get into big bores and doubles, the more you want to buy , own, and shoot. It is truely an addicting disease. Most of us enjoy the hell out of it, I hope you do too.

...and the rifles are the cheap part... It's the blasted ammo that drives you nuts...

OH! and welcome to the world of big fun. I've killed more things with my .375s than anything else for 3 decades. Never been one I ever was to get away from. No reason. It does exactly what it needs to do.

BOOM

Nice selection for Medium Bore.
Next step, the 505 Gibbs.
Then...

You will love that rifle. Try some 225 Hornady's on whitetails Easy on the pocketbook and flat. Easy on powder. The 270 RNs will work real well in the swamp too. Good shooting.
