I am not going to complete my 550 and therefore wish to sell what I have, which is still in America.

There is the barrel, muzzle brake, and dies paid for as well as the cost to have the barrel long chambered.

RNS can give you full details if interested and his email is

I have no idea what this sort of stuff is worth to sell in America but if I get a few dollars and someone can use it then it will be better than it sitting there collecting dust.

Thanks.

Importation was a factor but not the overriding one.

When I bought the 550 bits and pieces I had ordered a pair of 378 Wbys with a few things done at their custom shop. That just involved getting the all steel bottom metal, picking a bit of wood and they give the rifle the once over etc. Those rifle have now arrived in Australia and await the stupid paper work we have out here.

The pair of 378s was the first installment of more Wbys to come and via the custom shop. So at the time I thought the 550 was a good idea and would put it on a Mark V.

But now that the 378s have arived that kind of crystallised my thoughts and one of those was the cost to complete the 550. Since I wanted to start with everything being new I would have needed a new 30/378 Synthetic, plus the all steel bottom metal, a stock (the Synthetic would have been too smal for the 550 barrl) and the gun work out here and of course cases and bullets. All of that would have cost more than $4000Aus or so and would have blown a big hole through the budget. My keeness for the 550 was never that high and the importation would have added more costs because of organising the export licence and that also creates a problem with projectiles. So it wouild probably would have cost about $5000Aus to get the 550 show on the road. A 30/378 upgraded Deluxe will be about $5700 out here and my keeness to add one of those is much greater.

In short, I got a bit carried away earlier in the year and moved away from my plan.
