Had my eye on a LH 375H&H Custom African Express at Dallas Bass Pro Fine Gun Room for several months, I showed it to my wife and she gave the usual "that's nice, do you really need it" answer. It went on sale and I mulled it over for a week. When I decided I would buy it and went to pick it up the Mgr told it had been shipped back to Springfield to be part of a photo shoot and he wasn't sure when it would be back. I was very disapointed and thought my procrastination had let another good thing go by. I checked in with the Dallas shop every week to no avail.

Today my wife tells me to close my eyes for my 12th Anniversery present, she drops in my arms the very gun. Nice surprise!, of course the credit card bill was attached but what a Lady!.

I have been to the bass pro shops in Dallas before, their fine gun room is awsome and Curtis the manager is very helpful. Glad to hear you got your rifle. I was thinking about getting a m70 safari express from there as they seem to get the "non-defected" rifles, but they cost a little more than my local shop. If it has been there for several months, than I believe I have seen the rifle while I was there a month or so ago. It is a beautiful gun, what do you plan to use it for? Have fun with it.

Sevens, I leave Wed for BC on a Black Bear hunt, I'm going to use my 375H&H Win 70 that I already have, I wish I had time to get this one ready. This gun was there for a while but the asking price was tooo steep for me
It will be going to Africa in 05 with me.

I agree that Bass Pro can be on the high side, but they are, or were, having a good sale on many of their guns that put them a a very reasonable price. Pete and Curt are good guys and I enjoy talking to them.
If the sale is still on you may want to look.

I picked up a LH Dakota in 416 Hoffman with an S&B 1.25x4 in EAW mounts for what I considered a great price.

You never know what they will have, besides I just like to look.
