Tried 100 grains RL-22 to compare with the 4831's. Good group with a bit more speed but H4831SC still is most accurate in my CZ 550. 95-grains IMR 4831 was better than RL-22. I need the RL-22 for 150-grain TSX's in Pamela's .270 Wby Mag and talked myself into trying it in my Rigby. Cheers! _______________________

Rl 22 will get a bit more accurate as you approach max loads. Not sure what max is for your particular combo, but barnes list the TSX 400gr at 103 gr for RL22. John

Bumped it to 101 grains and accuracy just isn't there. I shot 95 grains IMR 4831 next to it at 300 yards and couldn't find the RL-22 shots (24" low for the 4831). I'll stay with H-4831SC, especially with the thump factor lower. _______________________

Rl 22 is probably more than 101 gr max for a cup core bullet, I would venture that it is a higher charge than the 103 gr listed as max for the barnes. Call up hornady and see if they have a listing for RL22, but if 4831 is giving good results, by all means stick with whats good. John

In a good rifle, you can load 106 gr with a 400 for about 2700 fps. Recoil is pretty rough. I'll agree with big boar hunter, rl22 will shoot better often at absolute maximum charges. I stick with H4831 in the rigby, shoots more accurately in mine, 2500 fps is plenty fast and there is a world of difference in recoil between 2500 and 2700 fps! I have shot 3 shots in the .2's with my .416 H4831 and 370 North Forks and it never groups over .7 at 100. As elmer would say makes a nice varmint rifle. A shot not taken is always a miss

Even standing straight up, sandbags on seats atop benchrest, I'm over my recoil threshold. And, yes, the stock fits, I have PAST pad, etc. Thankee kindly and I am glad I checked it out. 2450 fps with accuracy is fine by me. (And 350-grain TSX's shoot a profile like a .30-06 at distance anyway, but I wanted to check against the work I did when the gun was new.) _______________________

I've had great luck with IMR-4350, right at 2400 fps and Swift A Frames. The Hornadys give me abut 75 fps less with 90.2grs and Fed 215s. jorge USN (ret) DRSS Verney-Carron 450NE Cogswell & Harrison 375 Fl NE Sabatti Big Five 375 FL Magnum NE DSC Life Member NRA Life Member

In a CZ550 w/euro stock and Magna-ported a load of 106 gr of AA3100 w/350gr Barnes TSX gave average of 2625-2650 fps. Three shot groups averaged well under MOA; first two in one hole, third .5 to .70 out, consistantly. Other then the magna-port the rifle was as from the factory. Nikon Monarch 2X7 in Burris. I have made three Rigs- two Rem 30's and a Mauser and owned a Ruger 77. In all the best loads were always with 4350 or 4831, better then 414, 204, R19. R22 is just to slow. The CZ mentioned is the most accurate Rigby I have worked with and I found the stock design very comfortable. BTW my first experience with Magna-port which I like. Less muzzle climb, a little less recoil and far less increase in muzzle blast then brakes.
