I want to build a 458 something using a BRNO ZG 47 action I have.. Want more power than the winnie, have been wondering about the 450 Vincent short or the 460 Short A-Square. Anyone who can suggest anything else? I am gratefull for all ideas regarding this project.. Barrel will be 21 or 22" and rifle will be limited to a max weight of 8,5 Ibs

458, 470, or 500 are a lot more than a 458 winmag.

Pls tell me more about the 458 AR.. Is it based on the Ultra mag case or the 404J case (rebated rim or not..)??
What velocity to expect in a 22" barrel with 500 grs bullets?
Where to get reamer / headspace gauges etc etc
And what about brass with correct headstamp??

The brass is available from qualcart, and can be exported .. the reamer can be rented, for a fee, or bought, as well as headspace gauge

i have tons of loads in ammoguide, in a 458, 2400 from a 22-23" barrel, max loads

Decision is made, a 458 AR it shall be. My gunsmith will order a reamer from Manson one of the comming days.. Looks like a super design. The small rebated rim is only drawback, but on the other hand all my big bore wby`s feed 100% reliably, and they are practically seen also rebated - rim is smaller than the belt diameter.. So I guess it will work perfect in the 458 AR as well..

The rebated rims on the AR line of cartridges present no problem, unlike some others like the 425WR or 500Jeff. The rims are only slightly rebated. They are indeed well designed.
