I saw a .375 Epstein recently that was built on a 1917 action. What can it be rebored to within reason? (even though the magazine might need opening up) Thanks

Depending on your barrel diameter...probably anything from 40 cal up to & including 416 cal

Rebore? Are you sure you wouldn't rather re-chamber or re-barrel? Unless that barrel has some special feature like an integral quarter rib, reboring isn't cost-effective. I remember reading about the above in "Wildcats, Vol. II" a long time ago. You can re-barrel to any of the original "short" magnums, e.g., .264 Win. Mag., 6.5 Rem. Mag., 7mm Rem. Mag., .300 Win. Mag., .338 Win. Mag., .350 Rem. Mag., or any of the variants thereof. You can rechamber to .375H&H or .375 Weatherby with no problem and lower cost. You can re-barrel to any .375H&H-length cartridge, e.g., .400H&H, .416 Rem., .458 Lott, .470 Capstick, or similar. George

What George said. Dan Pedersen rebores/rechambers for about $265. Depending on the brand of barrel you choose and what your gunsmith charges to chamber & install it, you might come out less expensive to start over...pay your $, take your choice!

I would choose to re chamber or re barrel it myself..Its a good enough caliber but certainly a pain in the a$$ to reload...I think Saeeds 404/375 would clean that existing caliber and that certainly is a killer caliber on anything.

Thanks to all. I was thinking rechamber, but rebore came out in the post. I do know the difference. I guess the metal work would be the major expense to open the magazine. Thanks,

.375 Weatherby or .375 RUM . .375 H&H won't work unless you could set back the barrel quite a bit.
