For hunting rigs the M70 (or variations such as the Dakota) or Mausers are hard to beat. But if you are looking for a target or varmint rig Remington is the #1 choice. I think Saeed's collection mirrors that same mentality.

Gents, Just a little triva for you gun buffs. Going through the gun collection section of this fine site, I discovered a small but meaningfull fact. The owner of this rather large collection, about 112 firearms, had a preference for a much talked about manufacturer. Most of the writings, from my reading anyway, seem to indicate a poorly built gun. The manufacturer were talking about here is Remington. I only own two Remington Model 700's and have never experienced the problems reported here. Of the 112 firearms listed in the collection, the Remington 700 was the number one gun shown. The following is a list of the top five held in this collection. Remington 700 19 Sako (different models) 12 Remington 40 9 Hall BR 9 Weatherby 7 Anschutz 6 If you should combine the first and tied for third Remington's, you see a total of 28 guns of the 112 shown by this manufacturer. Twenty five percent by my math. Don't know if this means anything to you, but says quite a bit to me. One other thing I should mention, the DG gun of choice by the collection's owner happens to be a Dakota in 375/404 and not a Remington. Also food for thought. One last thing that should be mentioned, only one Winchester Model 70 was listed. Not sure how this will be interpeted, but hope it doesn't fire up retorts. HI Roger QSL

And how many of those Remingtons were big bores? Saeed has a marked preference for the Dakota actions for his bigger guns. George
