I got 90 ronds of custom loaded 416 Rigby ammo to start off my new CZ 550 Mag rifle. This ammo was made around 2008. The photo on the left is a sample of this ammo. The one on the right is a Hornady 400 gr Corelocked bullet I got last week. Sorry for the poor photo. The custom ammo projectile has a canelure but it is a bit behind compared to the Hornady. The exposed lead on this bullet is also less than the Hornady. The Hornady also has a greater taper to the bullet. I compared this bullet to the 320gr 9.3 Woodleigh and it looks very similar. Would some one be able to tell me what make bullet this might be? I am trying to dig deeper with the dealer & the reloader who made this ammo .... "When the wind stops....start rowing. Hard to say, have you pulled one of the mystery bullets to look at the base and the nature of the cannelure? That could help. An old Barnes original will have a pinhole in the base, and the cannelure could have been applied with a canneluring tool. Could it be a Woodleigh Weldcore? Take a hacksaw to one of the bullets and see if the jacket is bonded. Surely if you know who loaded them and and he responds then you should find the answer. Is the bullet steel jacketed washed with copper or gilding metal? Nose shapes can change over the years. Might be an old Hornady. | |||

Thanks RIP I just heard heard back from custom reloader & it is Woodleigh! he has sent me pictures with micrometer specs of the exposed lead as well. I am thrilled as the ammo cost me $4 a piece and locally the Norma brass costs more & the bullets cost $2.30 each. So have won this time around! "When the wind stops....start rowing.
