I was offered a .404 as a gift my last trip to RSA. I declined for a couple of reasons, one of which was the unknown of how I would legally get the rifle back into the US. Any ideas? Swift, Silent, & Friendly

Good Luck. I am on my third ATF import application, two previous were rejested for inconsistent reasons, and now the third is bogged down with a message to me that it is completed incorrectly- but in fact the item in question was filled in exaclty as I was instructed by another ATF processor. I have been told by the SA shop that it is cheaper and easier to send rifles as accompanied cargo, in other words, fly back with it, and it will be delivered to customs at your final destination airport, where you then clear them and take them home. ______________________________ "Are you gonna pull them pistols,...or whistle Dixie??" Thanks for the replies. It's exactly what I figured I would be up against. Glad I passed on the offer. Swift, Silent, & Friendly

I'd think that a 404 gift rifle would be motivation enough, to at least try.

Before you give up entirely, you may want to read this and talk to Simpson, Ltd. in Illinois. See the import / export menu on the left side - click on "Import"

LHowell, Thanks for that. By clicking on the left sidebar item "Export/Import" I got a lot of interesting info.
