Never fired mine w/o the brake, no reason to remove it because there's no reason to increase the discomfort level when I pull the trigger.

While we're on the subject of muzzle brakes, does the original Pendleton type muzzle brake used by Weatherby on the 378 & 460, effectively tame the 378's recoil?

Last one I shot was probably 20 years ago. maybe I got tougher (doubtful) or the riles are stocked better. Or maybe I just remember it worse than it realyy was. At any, rate I've not been really interested in shooting another until now. Maybe I'll have to try it one more time...
