all right, I don't have diagrams, I don't have software and don't probably have the knowledge fo numbers. but since I know some of you all love doing it....

Local shop built way back when on the Mohawk type actions a 375x350rem mag for alaskan pilots and guides, supposedly ballistics were pretty good. said it would be even better in a long action with room to seat the bullet out.

Would somebody with the time and want to take a look and see what the capacity and possible ballistics look like, and if possible compare to the 375 ruger. Just want to see how far the new cartridge is taking us. Big Grin

This is no way offensive to you 375 ruger owners. I'm just having fun. I own an h&H and dont' have play money so wouldn't consider one either way. I had at one time thought about the 375x357rm though and am curious now that this new thing has come out.

It should be very similar to 375-06.
35 whelen capacity 70.5 gns H2O
350 Rem mag capacity 72 gns H20

375 Whelen capacity 74.4
A quick trip through Quickload with RL15 gave 2460fps with Speer 270.
Added 2 more gns capacity and got 2480.
FWIW- I don't know if this applies to anything in the real world.
OOps 20" bbl.
changed to 24" bbl and got 2580fps with 76.4gn capacity.
For comparison the 375 Taylor shows 87.6gn capacity and might go 2687fps.
All quickload pressures were set at 58,000 psi

Jepp, and also real simmilar to the .376 Steyr, but that one needs a long action anyway, so one is better off with a .375 Whelen/Hawk/Scovill - or simply the 9,3x62.

Didn't Charlie Sisk develop a 9.3/350RM (9.3 BS) that would duplicate standard 9.3x62 - 286gr standard velocities out of a short barreled short action 350RM? To me, this sounds like a 350RM on steroids in a very small light package to carry in a plane. If you were starting with a long action, it may be better to look at the 9.3/338WM, 375/338WM, 375Ruger, or one of the non-magnum 30-06 based wildcats such as the Hawk.

All that work to move bullet diameter from .358 to .366? Just load the .350 with 300 gr bullets and be done with it.
