There is a post that I can't find that had 4 Ruger #1's in a picture and I think one was in 450-400 3". I would appreciate it if anyone knows where this post and pictures are. Thanks for the help.PaLuke

Search on my "400 Nitro's" I can't see pictures on the work puter right now. I will repost it later.
My 450/400NE3" Ruger No.1 does have a very pretty stock, straight from the factory.

I found it with an advanced search, title started with "400 Nitro's:" by RIP.
Then I had to do some work ... came home to a puter where I can see the photos and looked it up on my photobucket album. Finding something with the search function can be tedious.

I could add more, but I really ought to try it again in the sunlight, and focus on the prettiest Ruger No.1, the 450/400NE3".

Thanks for the replies. I honestly looked for that for hours. That is one of the neatest displays I've seen. I don't have a Ruger #1 and to be honest with you they are very hard to come by in my area. Cabelas and Gander Mtn both said they can't get them, especially in the big bores(#1H).Again thanks for the replies.PaLuke

I waited over six months for him to get a 9.3x74R for me, meanwhile another member here told me about one in WVA. I got that via telephone call and it is the one that was rebarreled to 400/.395NE.

Darrel Whittaker finally got one for me too, also seen above, and that one would be (wood be) from second year of production for that caliber.

The first year of production Ruger No.1's in a new chambering seem to have the best wood. The next batch they make a year later, they do not seem to be as picky with their wood.

Big bore, rimmed-cartridge Ruger No.1's are very fine rifles. Nevertheless, I also have a 500 A-Square, a .416 Rigby, and a 405 Winchester in Ruger No.1's.

I just had to have a belted, a rimless, and a pipsqueak. A 45-70 would serve just as well as the .405WCF in the pipsqueak category.

The cocking lever is missing on the 2nd rifle down. Is it buried in the rug?

Also, how does the 450 NE 3-1/4 compare in recoil with the 458 lott?

Yes, of course, it is buried in the bison hair.
That rifle needs to be seen in natural sunlight, with no hair hiding the lever, to be appreciated. Prettiest one.

I agree, that stock is superb. I would like to do a stainless on wood with my #1 Lott, if I could get a stock like that!
