What are the pros and cons of mounting the front sling swivel on the very end of the fore-end (stud screw parallel to the barrel), as opposed to mounted on a barrel band? I'm hoping to finish up my rifle this winter and that's one of the last things I need to do. Rifle in question is a 416 Taylor, Mauser Mark X action, Boyd JRS stock.

Thanks,
Washougal Chris

Thanks for all the suggestions - I think I'm going to try the fore-end mount and see how it works. I checked Brownell's and they have some sets that have wood screws for both the front and rear swivels.

Thanks!
