I'm considering mounting a scope on one of my Marlins and was wondering if any of you knew of a stronger than normal (Leopold, Redfield, Weaver, etc.) mounting system that would work well on this rifle. I use relatively stout loads in this relatively light rifle and I'd rather not have to worry about something coming loose. Any suggestions would be welcome.

My son has been using Warne Maxima steel QD rings in Warne Maxima two-piece steel bases for years on his 1895SS .45-70 with absolutely no problems. Also, after removing the scope which takes all of 30 seconds, they allow the use of iron sights and the scope always returns to zero when remounted.

I am using dirty old weavers and have not had any trouble with them to date.

I'm using Weaver rings and mounts on my Guide Gun with no problems. My pet loads are 400 grain jacketed and paper patched bullets at 1800 fps, put over 400 of them through this set up.

Big Bore...that set-up of your son's sounds like just the ticket. Is that something that's available through Brownells or are there other outlets? Thanks.
