Mike and I rust blued (okay, hot water blued) 2 of out big bores tonight.. Mike's 602 based 470 mbogo and my 500 jeffe...

very pleased with the results.. about 3 hours total work... nice way to spend an afternoon, drinking beer, scrubbing rusty barrels..

they turned out GREAT

good idea... I'll see if mike will bring his cam over today... I am going to "fall down a well" in the morning, so it might be a few days.

you should have seen the look on his face the second time the gun came out of the tank (first time with rust).... LMFAO

It does take a bit of faith to keep appling the solution with what your gun looks like after the first go around. It does look great when completed. I am going to be doing a good deal of rust blueing in my last semester.

I have been slow rust bluing for a little over a year now. Dad and I are going to make a new damp box pretty soon. I dont always use one, but with some solutions its a must.

With due respect Jeffe, I�ve seen past masters here doing rust blueing. They as a rule used several weeks for that work. Did you find a new method in order to accelerate the process?.

jeffe ur alive! you didnt spend ur morning hanging your head in the big bowl?

Nice pics, have you tried slow rust blue? How do you like it compaired to hot water blue?

yep.. the real masters take days to do this.. this is the hotwater version, which i doubt is AS durable.. but i am pretty happy with it... a 500 dollar job it AINT

Jeffe, are you at the range this weekend? I need to sight in the 375 and try out some new loads. Saw you were going to be at Carter's last weekend, which was when my back spasm had me laid out. Not what you want on the bench. Let me know. Bob
