okay.. .. so I spent the afternoon at the range (lake houston gun club) sighting in my vaquero to MY loads, and it's going well... Out comes the 416 rem, and I have to sight the 1x4 leupold in, as i haven't shot this rifle in, oh, 2 months.. Lay it on the bench, at 50.. boom.. next round.. boom.. holes right next to each other, adjust... ... adjust... let the guy geeked out at the rounds shoot it (always a hoot) shot the pistol some more.. enjoying hitting a playing card at 25 with vaquero sights getting ready to leave.. check at 100... boom.. too high... adjust.. boom.. little high... boom (aww sh**t)... Last shot, i was getting a tad too loose holding it (oh, did I mention that I "benchrest" a 416?) and let the pad barely touch me... 416 with a running start will make your eyes water, if you didn't know... (shot the rest of the 45lc,,, back to 416 rem, offhand/kneeling) yep, i DIDN"T forget to snug it into the pocket then.... btw, at 50, near dark, knealing.. about 1.5 inches with scope at 1x.. i love shooting my big bores jeffe

I was squating down setting on my heels some while shooting through a crony setting on a sawhorse out back just working up some loads, the 416 doesn't bother me that bad if held TIGHT, but it wasn't once and went off a little unexpectedly at the same time. I thought I was going to loose the rifle over my shoulder as it slammed me into my truck knocking me on my ass too. I never did that again! Bench shooting kills my back between my shoulder blades after 15 rounds or so, shoulders fine but the kink in my back, damn... My 44 Bisley Vaquero is a hoot to shoot too. A 100 rounds goes way too fast, just start to have fun and it's over.
