Weight of synthetic stock? Login/Join

While I have not yet had any problem with the original stock on my CZ550 .416, posters on this site have me concerned that the stock may split when I am in Africa. Can some one "Kentucky windage" the difference in weight between the original wood stock and a synthetic stock? My son does not like the recoil on my .416 so he ordered a Rem 700 in .375 Ultra mag. It has a synthetic stock and boy is it light. I may just reverse inherit it when he shoots it this weekend. No, it won't be for sale, as I am able to disconnect my brain from my pain fibers and can shoot anything.

Buy a front crossbolt kit from Brownells and some steel bed and reinforce your CZ550. It will be the best $50 you spend on your trip and will stop the CZ stock from splitting. I have done this to my 500A2 using the original CZ stock and it has held up extremely well.
The only plastic stock I know of of any quality that will fit the CZ550 416 is the McMillan express and you will wait 3-6 months for it and still have to glassbed it.-Rob
