This is a pic of the bedding area on my "new" CZ 550, .458WM w/ hogback stock. Is this factory bedding? Is this enough bedding for shooting moderate loads through this gun? It has one cross bolt near the tang. Should I install another one towards the front of the action? Is there a way to tell if there's one buried in the bedding material? Thanks for your help. GR

I typically bed mine farther in the front, but that will work, shoot it and see what it does. You may be able to take a magnet and check for in crossbolt, but my guess it doenst have one. Its easy enough to put another crossbolt, although you will get different opinions on needing one or not. You can get another crossbolt from cZ that matches the rear and it's easy to install Is the barrel lug bedded, I like to bed the front lug also. Billy, High in the shoulder (we band of bubbas)

As long as the lug under the barrel is similarly bedded it should be ok. The extra crossbolt can't hurt. I really doubt there is a hidden cross bolt in there, but if there is you should be able to tell with a strong magnet. My cz hogback had two composite reinforcing blocks, yours probably has them also but they would already be buried under the bedding. I would say just inspect the wood for cracks after each range session until you have several boxes through it.
