| With the Searcy you get: 1. Strongest action made. 2. Custom made for your measurements. 3. Butch is a phone call away if you have any problems.
I would not part with my Searcy 470NE. |

| Who makes the better double rifle. Saw both at DSC show, I know the Kreighoff shotguns are great but what about the rifles. |

| I have a searcy and am very pleased with its accuracy, fit and strength. It is a traditional design improved by modern materials, engineering, and manufacturing techniques.
The Krieghoff has a queer safety/cocking piece that is slow to get into action. It takes me at least 3 times as long to get a krieghoff ready to shoot as a searcy, which makes dangerous game hunting a little more dangerous. |

| I have a Searcy PH model in .470. I think it's a fantastic rifle for the money. Strong accurate and attractive. (Just like it's owner.)I have shot the krieghoffs and they are a good rifle> I do not care for how stiff the safety is. But I guess there are some merits to a decocking safety.
Butch is a great guy and he will immediatley fix any problems you have with your rifle no B.S. or trouble he stands behind his rifles. And the fact that you are getting a custom fitted rifle means something to me. With the Kreighoff your getting a rifle that's fit for an average sized man just like all other mass production rifles. |

| Hello ALF,
Are you able to provide some specifics on the Searcy double rifle problems?
The reason I'm asking is I have one on order and meet with Butch in person (to place the order and test fire a gun) and he impressed me as a straight up guy who would stand behind his work/product(s). I also was impressed that the guns are top notch as regards to fit and finish.
What where the "problems" with the guns in for repair? Where they being repaired locally because it was too just much hassle to ship it to the US (and back) for a very minor repair? Like a screw loose, broken spring? or was it major? hinge pins? off face? or? Where these the older Field model? or the newer PH model? Also I don't think that the fact that someone was selling a gun as a bad sign as I've sold guns in the past and in some cases sure wish I could have them back :-( Do you know why it was up for sale?
I eagerly await your reply and want to thank you for your time.

Butch Searcy has an agent and a repair facitlity in South Africa. He also has a life time warranty on his rifles in regards to workmanship. His agent is a gun smith in Koonstad (sp)? All of his African repairs should be sent there for work. I've got a friend who has two Searcy's and his father has one. He's had a problem with regulation on his 450/400. Paul fixed it with no worries no cost.
I also am curious as to what these problems are as I own a Searcy .470 Field Grade. Like to know so as to head it off at the pass so to speak. Butch told me that one of the problems with the field grade was the forearm springs were weak and collapsing. That was supposed to be taken care of in the new PH model. I haven't really heard anything else. Have you? |
