Reading AR forums can get expensive. First I had to have a 9.3x62 and now that little voice is whispering 404. I have 375s, 416s and a Lott. Please someone give the rationalization I need.

I think you are confusing need and want. If you had a 416 you probobly didn't need the 458 or vice versa. Now if you want a 404...... and a 375, 416, 458 now that is a different matter. I personally have 2 375's, 2 404's, and a 416! I could have likely stopped at the first 375, but I didn't want to. Enjoy!

Although cartridge selection is important there is nothing that will substitute for proper first shot placement. Good hunting, "D"

I think you should sell half of those big bores and send the cash to your favorite outfitter as a deposit for a hunt. Smiler

Reminds me of the line used in one of the TV shows for exotic cars:

"Does ANYONE need "xxxxx (super car)"? No, not really, but I ACHE for it!"

(Can't deny the feeling as I have a Cobra replica and am building a GT40! Both are blindingly fast!)

Given the battery you already have, you really don't NEED a .404. Ahhh ... but do you want one? Different question.

500 Grains has a good point though ... would the money be better spent on the memories of a good hunt.

My recommendation: Take the .416 and the Lott to Africa for Buff. I'll bet they'd be happier than in the safe, and so would you!

I have to agree. The only rationalization you need is the fact that you want one. 'Nuff said.

Egad man! I already have 2- 375s, a 450/400 3 inch double rifle and I'm having a 404 Jeffery built!

I never want to hear the words Do I need? again when it comes to getting another rifle! Is that clear? Crystal?

Let us know how you like your new rifle when you get it! Big Grin

It's the .416 and the Lott that you don't need.....the .404 is the one you needed in the first place.....you have very little time to correct the situation....better get to it!

Naturally, you "need" one because you want it Big Grin Big Grin

Best way to cure obsession is possession. Forget the rational thoughts about "need".... Roll Eyes

Shortly after the 404 is completed you will also "need" a 500 Jeffery sofa

Cheers beer

If you do need rationalization and the wife wants to hear it tell her that you are too damn honest and are sick of hearing people spouting these ballistic results that you just know can't be true and you have to get one and do your own testing.

I could come up with other reasons, I am the master of rationalizing things. Bought three rifles at one time because they were such good deals, hell, did that twice. and mind I don't have the budget of most of you forum guys.

sadly I sit here and don't really want anything new right now, almost brings a tear to my eye.

which one are you ordering? having it built or getting the new CZ? if the CZ are you changing out the bolt handle or having it plugged or leave as is? I told the rep at SCI after hearing the whole "it helps with gripping" thing that so does checkering and it should be solid.
