I was unable to attend due to a few work conflicts, but I am looking for a nice english .375, did anyone see any classic english mausers at SCI?

I saw what looked like an original Rigby.I am not sure what caliber it was or whose booth it was.It looked very nice.

Frank the H&H has a 24" barrel approx and I am working on loads now. I plan on using 140grn Austalian made Woodleighs BUT I have had good results with RWS 162grn TIGs from an 7x64. My Westley Richards with 7x57R is set with RWS 127grn Soft nose bullets

I fingered the new Rigby's at Dortmund. The stocks aren't finished as well as I had thought they would be for that price point.

Kind of like a Blaser for 4 times the price.

It was at the Holland&Holland stand

Most of the quality older Mausers were twisted 1x9 or 1x9.5, as they preferred the 175 gr. bullet..but that twist is also a great all around twist, Ive owned many of them and they shot the 130 gr. Speer at 3100 FPS as well as the 175 gr. Nosler at 2600 FPS, most of those older guns were made on std mauser 98 actions with long boxes and they have long throats, also the Brno mod. 21 and 22 on the G33-40 actions, later the same with double square bridge models.

I see using the 130 Speer as a the best of deer loads, and the 175 Noslers on elk, makes the 7x57 an awesome all around caliber.

Im building myself one as we speak and it will be on the lines of the .375 pictured..Purely English/African, short forend, no excess wood, Silvers pad or steel pad. All metal on the G33-40 small ring has been done by Jack Belk, and I'll do the stock. We both will sign it.. Its my last rifle buildff, and will have all the bells and whistles, and I will shoot my next elk and deer with it Lord willing...Time to hang it up and fish more and hunt more.

Ray, I look forward to seeing your finished rifle. Sure you don't want to run those 139-grain Western open points that O'Connor favored for Kaibab Plateau mule deer?
