As you may remember I aquired a single square bridge type B sporter Mauser in 10.75x68. The rifle was made in 1934. Its mint. Will the steel in the receiver take some careful handloading or should I stay at factory loads ? Thanks...............................JJ " venator ferae bestiae et aquae vitae " | ||

The loads I listed are safe in about any Mauser such as yours..Factory loads in the 10.75x68 get about the same velocity as my loads but at less than 40,000 PSI according to Hartari times... The Aussies for instance load the 10.75 to 2300 FPS with a 400 gr. Woodleigh...I believe I can do that with my gun based on the pressure signs I get with my loads, I get 0 case head expansion, very nice rounded primers, no sticky bolts, very easy expansion and they resize like new brass, all indicators that I am shooting very mild loads...That is exactly what turned me on to the 10.75x68...This was brought to my attention by Harlod Wolfe of Hartari Times..but I have killed enough buffalo with a 400 gr. bullet at 2100 FPS in the 450-400 and 404 Jefferys that it suits me as is... A handloaded 10.75x68 is as good as any Factory 404 round, albiet the 404 likewise can be loaded to a much higher level safely...
