Can someone put a caliper on their barrel at the muzzle on CZ 550 in 458 Lott and let me know what the diameter is? I'm planning to rebore my 375 and would like to know ... Thanks much appreciated, Chuck Regards, Chuck "There's a saying in prize fighting, everyone's got a plan until they get hit" Michael Douglas "The Ghost And The Darkness"

Unless something changed recently, all of the CZ 550 Magnums that are barreled in the Czech Republic (375, 416 and 458) have the same profile. That's why a 375 is heavier than a 458. I can't say about the custom guns in the new calibers like 505. I think they are barreled here in the USA. "Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

Anywhere from .666" (mark of the beast) to .670" at the 25" muzzle mark, on the several that I have measured. This is equivalent to about a number 4 sporter contour. The Mauser Banner rifle folks use the same contour on their 450 Dakota Magnum Mauser, so you should be fine on a .458 rebore of the .375 barrel, especially if you shorten the barrel an inch or two, it will be thicker at the muzzle and stiffer on the scale of gnat hairs differences. I think a 23" barrel would be lovely for that rebore.

Actually I'm planning to rebore to 470 Capstick Rip. My barrel measures .670 with my dial caliper at the muzzle and .710 at the 22" mark which is the length I'm planning.
