I read that Hornady and Nosler will make ammo for the 416 Rigby (Lawdog_Gary) but I havent been able to find any info on this.

Where does this info come from? Should we expect brass too?

What is the general quality of Hornady and Nosler brass compared to Norma?

Thomas

Some 'Hornady Custom' brass I got from their factory 6mm Remington load was made by WW-Super (alias "Winchester") as I recall.

WW brass is good, and has a reputation for strength. I have a problem with the nickel-plated stuff in my .280 Remington BDL DM (for detachable magazine) because it is too slick and gets thrown out the port instead of chambering. No other issues than that...

Saw a Midway flyer with Federal Premium Rifle Ammunition, .416 Rigby offering with 410-grain Woodleigh Solid @ $42.99 (US) on sale, regular price $85.99 (US). My .416 Rigby brass is all nickel-plated, obtained from on sale Federal factory loads. Wonder if it is the same stuff.

Nagel,
I think I remember that Midway ad. I really couldn't believe that price. I should have bought some, but I don't see it at their website anymore... I think I paid 39 just for brass (Norma).

I'm not sure who makes the Federal brass. I like that the nickel doesn't tarnish but after a while it does chip on me.

I would have no problem shooting Hornady brass.....they make brass for several cartridges and there's been no complaints from anyone.

I think we'd have heard about problems if the .450 Marlin brass was defective or the .480 Ruger or the .204 Ruger.

Hornady also makes .458 Lott brass and we've not heard complaints here either.

I've used the Hornady brass in my 480, have run it from mild to wild, and haven't kept track of how many times I've loaded it, some cases must have at least 30 loads through them. Out of 200 cases, I've gotten small neck splits in a dozen or so over the years.

Haven't loaded the 458 Lott brass enough to comment on it, but it seems to work just fine.

So far I've been very pleased with Hornady brass.

Had just sprung for sale priced Sledgehammer loaded Federal .416 Rigby, otherwise I'd have jumped at the flyer price. I pulled the solids (for later) and used Hornady Interbonds to fireform brass plus use as a practice load.
