I don't know about the rest of you, but I think the Winchester factory pad sucks. I put in 20 rounds from the bench this afternoon with the 375 (checking the scope and grouping on some handloads) and it started to hurt.

Mod 70 safari express. gun shot great. I'm not a great shot to begin with and having just a 2.5x on there makes it hard for grouping, but I did get a good 3 shots in 1.5" at 100yds. I didn't try out the irons since I couldn't see naked eye anything down there well enough to aim at. Smiler

I only shot a few of my handloads, the 270s and 300's both grouped well. The 300's were on top of 68 grains of RL15 and the 270's on top of 72g of Varget. Don't seem to be any pressure problems. Have no idea on velocity, damn chronograph wouldn't work.

Aside from an issue with the safety it was a good outing.

I have a couple of kickeez and like them, but was thinking about trying the limbsaver. the 990 triple magnum is recommended highly here, but it looks like crap.

Off the bench you might try a sissy bag. I cut off the leg of an old pair of jeans and filled it with sand, then sewed it up. A decent pad will come in handy in the field but you will not shoot 20 shots at one time in the field unless something really strange happens.

My Safari Classic 375 H&H wears a factory Decelerator pad but I use a Past Magnum recoil shoulder pad while at the bench. I never even felt the recoil when I shot 3 African plains animals with it. The other 3 were taken with a custom 378GNR Encore handgun.

My CZ 375 has a Decelerator on it. It works, but the new Limbsavers seem to be a little softer, absorbing more recoil.
I too use a PAST shield when I am on the bench. I always end my shooting with 2 to 4 shots without the pad, off of sticks or offhand.
