Looking at scoping my ruger No1 in .458 lott, have a burris mini x4 scope, will it stand up to the recoil? or would i be better off with a leupold? What is your experience?

I use a Burris 2.5x on my M-70 .470 Capstick with no problems.

Try it to see how your 4x holds up.

The only scope that I have used that would stand up to the Lotts recoil over 250 rounds has been the Leupold compact 2.5X as it has the adjustments in the center of the scope..Its a real tough little scope..

CC,

I use a 1x4 Leupold shotgun scope on my Lott. I've shot about 200 rounds with this combo when it was a .458 WM and probably another 200-300 since rechambering it to the Lott. I could not be more pleased. It gets the job done and at an affordable price as well.

2.5x leupold compact is the superior scope for the very hard kickers, and there reasonably priced to boot.

Like Ray and PC advisd..my Lott has a Leupold 2.5x M8 on it...about 200 rounds through it with no problem. Never owned a Burris but I understand they are well made..

The good thing about Leupold is they fix problems with no questions asked..at no charge.

I did have a 2.5x M8 on a 458 win.mag that gave up the ghost after only 30 rounds...Leupold was very good about turning it around quickly.

I also like the generous eye relief on the Leupold...a real plus with the Lott! For heavy recoil the Leupold 2.5x seems to be the scope of choice.

I use a Swarovski 1.25-4x24mm and it's holding up just fine. Not sure how many shots fired so far, but it's a lot!

I have a Leup 1.5-5x on my lott and it has held up fine. BUT BUT BUT, I agree with Ray that the most durable scope out there is the Leup compact 2.5x. They even stand up to the .585 nyati.

Thanks all, looks like i will keep the burris 4x for the 44mag and get a leupold 2.5x.

cc, I have that exact scope on my 458 winnie and it has held up fine for a few years now. probably a few hundred shots. I have been happy with it.

It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it!
