Thanks Charlie. I have missed his wisdom and wit. We were fortunate to have him here as member. Never met him in person, but I will always remember the great phone conversations and PMs we shared.

Lloyd DeVore, aka Alberta Canuck, may you rest in peace.

Amen to that. I didn't know him at all, but through his writings here. What was quite clear to me was his common sense and sage wisdom. I looked forward to reading what the man wrote, if not for the insight provided, then for the character which came through in his prose.

+2.

We disagreed sometimes, but I always respected AC's opinions.

RIP.

Got to wonder, if we were t ogo to the trail in the sky, what the members would be saying about us on the forum.

If you wonder about it maybe you need to rethink your approach.

By all accounts AC was a great guy. What a nice legacy to leave.

They are both deceased. KH last December and LdV (AC) in March 2016. May they rest in peace.

So, Ken Howell was not Alberta Canuck?

Ken Howell was Ken Howell.

Alberta Canuck was Lloyd DeVore.

Both are deceased.

An insulting, loudmouthed, blowhard literally dredged up the dead with his false claims regarding identity. Then, when proven wrong, he lacked the humility to own up to it or offer an apology. Instead, he became more insulting and more obnoxious. That is his way.

Number one,I have not been proven wrong.

Number two, please explain to me why a gun that I worked on for Ken Howell came up in Alberta Cannuck's estate sale and he (AC) claimed that I built it for him.

When I lived in Prescott I spent several hours a week for over six years visiting with Ken in his office next to his house. I think that I knew him better than any of you on AR.

Believe whatever you want.

The absolute certainty on both sides is what is so morbidly fascinating about this thread.

I didn't know any of the folks personally and don't have a dog in the hunt.

But interesting thread none the less.

Dave, thanks for clarifying the source of your views on this. For what it is worth, when Lloyd bought an old waffle-top Marlin with three-quarter magazine from me, he sent a personal check signed Lloyd De Vore at the Cave Creek address, with a note also signed Lloyd. We often PMed about his many happy years here in western Oregon. I don't know where the confusion arises, but do believe AC was Lloyd De Vore, gentleman scholar.
No disrespect intended.

Both are dead but one had the other's gun or like an oddball Marlin?
And Dave Westbrook knows them both????

I need a scorecard.

Interesting case. Some of the evidence presented on both sides is hearsay, and it is unfortunate that neither declarant is available to verify their "out of forum" statements.

Very sorry to hear about AC's passing, good guy and lots of knowledge of our sport/ passion.
I corresponded with Alberta Canuck several years back about a small town he lived in in Oregon that I was very familiar with having hauled a lot of hay around there as a kid. He signed off his communications with me as "Lloyd"
I think dave wesbrook should clarify his presumptions and quit being a dick about it, but wait that is his nature isn't it?
Dave sounds like you knew Ken Howell, not Lloyd aka Alberta Canuck

curious to me as the to all the confusion though--

I corresponded with both-

In my dealings with them:

Ken was "Ken Howell" on AR
Lloyd was "Alberta Canuck" on AR

Yet none of you can explain why AC claimed that I worked on a rifle for him that I actually worked on for Ken Howell.
As I said earlier, believe what you want.
I owe no further explanations to a bunch of anonymous posters on an internet chat room.

Except that maybe, after the strokes and everything else he talked about that ailed him, maybe the man was just confused and made a mistake.

Of course, no one else of that age would ever do that, would they?

For crying out loud, let the men rest. What difference does it make?

Both of these guys are "good guys".
Both are dead.
Dave Westbrook did gun work for one of them, but the other guy's estate has the gun....

So, can we all play well together now???

I just got off the phone with Frank Martinez who is the only man on AR that spent time with AC.He had no explanation why AC claimed that I had built a gun for him that I actually built for Ken Howell but Frank did remember the gun.

However, when Frank pulled up a photo of Ken Howell on the internet he said that that was not the man he had dealt with. That mans name was Lloyd DeVore.

So,I was wrong and I sincerely apologize to all involved in these threads. I hope that you all can understand why I reached my conclusions.
