I changed the first half of this post as some of the questions I had were answered by the other thread on sabots.

If someone did want to develope a sabot, using an existing brand of bullet for a bigbore how could they go about it?
(Say a 375 bullet in a 585 just for a random example )

Karl, Don't know if this will help, but you might want to talk to the black powder guys, there are several companys doing "Sabots" for higher pressure loads,one that i hae used in my 12 bore is made by
