I have a 458 Lott and a 6mm. Love them.

#1 Tropical is just an awesome rifle that's good looking, accurate, and goes "Bang" every time. No criticism of it from me.

I have no problem with folks shooting a single shot on Dangerous game, IF THEY CAN SHOOT. If the first shot is good, they run off a little bit and die every time. If the shot is bad then you probably should have a double or a bolt gun.

I intend to hunt buffalo with Rugers No. 1 in 450-500-3" if they ever get them on the market. and I will have Singulay packing my 450-400 Searcy in case the going gets rough.

I don't mind giving myself an edge. I don't mind haveing a PH to back me up, I have had several Buffalo charges, I like all the help I can get because sometimes they are really hard to stop once they fill up with Adrenline.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I'll be getting a new #1 tropical (blue) in 375 h&h. I can't resist, I fear.

I used mine for DG, never gave it a second thought. Make that first shot count and with a little practice, I can personally shoot the NO l faster than I can shoot a bolt. This because I have to shoot left handed and I am not left handed.

I have hunted woith No1's and like them a lot. For faster reloading get a buttstock shell carrier from Murray Leather.
Then your second [etc]shot is just behind the action.

I finally got to handle a used #1 Tropical (375) today at one of the local gun shops, and my first impression is that it was handier than I expected a 9+lb to be. Well balanced, not much drop at the heel. I guess I’m sold.

375 H&H, mine had a good trigger, once adjusted. Put a limbsaver on it, but it kicked too hard for me, and was too awkward to use a scope on -- beautiful gun, I plan to buy one in a smaller caliber.
