Got out to the range today with my CZ550 and shot some handloads over the chrony. Pretty much spot on for speed..

400gr Hornady RN
Norma case
CCI250
96, 97 and 98grs H4831
Velocity ran from 2323 to 2420
No targets Wink

Quite comfortable from the bench though.

IanD,
I've been using the same load for many years only a little hotter. I copied an old load reputed to be from an old writer. 104.0gr H4831 w/ the 400 gr TBBC. Used it very effectively on your Arnemland Buffs. I checked it once, 2520 fps.

A good "deer load" I have found for my .416 Rigby is the RCBS 350-grain cast gascheck bullet sized .417, hardened to BH 21, in front of 112 grains of AA8700. Shot from a CZ 550, the MV is 2200 FPS, and it is very accurate!

The hunting load I use in my RSM is:
96 IMR 4831, 350 TSX, Norma case, Fed. 215m primer. Gives me 2600+ fps, great on 2 buff and plainsgame, way too much on a impala. Have used it on one bear, took it on that hunt just because it was first chance to use it.

That is about what I shoot in my CZ. Mine gives pretty good groups with with that load.

Loads around the 2350-2400fps are easy on the brass and shooter too. I want to try some of the 400gr DGX and DGS bullets and see how they shoot. I have a Burris 1.75-5x32mm Safari mounted. Seems pretty good so far.

Many, many of our esteemed fellow posters prattle on about loadings of 104.0 - 107.0 grains of H-4831/RL-22/N-165. BALDERDASH!!

96 to 98 grains exactly covers the range of velocities that the Rigby made its bones with.

Thanks for presenting some sane loads.

Rant-off.
