Anyone shooting these in their 500 Jeffery or 500 NE? I just realized I bought about 100 of them at the 2010 SCI convention, they were buried under stuff on my reloading bench lol...

Chuck

Should be a great Cape Buff bullet, judging by their performance in every other caliber I've used them in. As they say, you could rinse one off after use and use it in a magazine ad.

That's what I was thinking too. I have a bunch of Barnes 570g TSX's which are very accurate at 2300 fps from my 500 Jeffery, but after shooting my brown bear at 13 yards with a 300g A-Frame out of my 375 Weatherby, breaking it's shoulder and ending up in hide of far rear leg, I have a lot of confidence in the A-Frames

Personally, I'm hoping that a CEB Raptor will be available that meets my needs,
but if there is any problem or delay,
the Swift A-frame would make a mighty backup choice. Between the Woodleigh and the Swift, the Swift would provide the most reliable design outside of a monolithic.

I'm pretty happy with 570g TSX as well. I don't use them in our 270s but the .510 caliber TSX has such a large hollow point and it was designed for 500 NE velocities, so I really think there's no concern about it expanding or not at reasonable 500 Jeffery ranges.

Chuck,

What kind of accuracy do you get with the .509" TSX?

In fairness to the thread, a comparison question for the A-Frame is also implied.

Easily sub MOA here's a 50 yard 3 shot group, that was representative, some were tighter none were much looser. I shot my groups at 50 yards rather than 100 because I have 1.5 - 5x scope on the 500 Jeffery and I find it much easier to keep the exact point of aim for each shot with my old eyes lessening the shooting error contribution to the group. With 3x9s and 4.5x14s on our other rifles we shoot for groups at 100 and 200 yars regularly. So anyway here goes.

Jamison Brass, Federal 215 Primers, 570g TSX, 105g H4895, COL 2.63" velocity 2410 fps (velocity on the target is wrong, have since bought a new Chrony, velocity is 2300 fps with 103g, 2410 fps with 105g)

Here's a picture of my 500 Jeffery "Baby" as well Smiler

I'll shoot some groups with both bullets at when I get back to the range. Maybe I'll throw a higher power scope on it for the comparison if I get a chance and shoot at 100 yards.

Chuck
