I finally got all my load testing (bench shooting) done for my .577NE H&R Handi Rifle single shot. 700 grain Peregine Bush Busters and 600 grain CEB Raptors. Groups at 50 yds are one big ragged hole. I'm glad that's done!

I am still waiting for my 500-110 custom dies for my 22 inch switch barrel for the same H&R platform. With that barrel I will shoot .450 gr. CEB bullets at about 2000 fps. I leave in a month for 4-6 cape buffalo. Bullet report to follow.

Also, on this trip my 9 year old grandson will shoot his single shot 30-30 with 100 gr. CEB Flat based Raptors, on plains game. My wife, Sandy, will be videoing the whole thing. This will be fun.

Sounds like a great family trip! I'll bet that will be the first 577 H&R rifle to hunt on African soil :-)

Biebs, Thanks. Actually I hunted buffalo cows with it in 2016 using 700 gr. hard cast bullets. The story is published in The African Hunting Gazette, Summer 2017. "Never Mind The Bull."
I can tell you that the rifle raised some eyebrows at first with the locals.

Brian Canada,

From the title I thought this thread might be about the name of the perfume that Stormy Daniels is marketing lately.

What a pleasant alternative subject!
What a wonderful expedition!
There was a video link about the first cape buffalo killins' by your .577 NE H&R with hard-cast bullets, very professionally done all around.
Good luck to all on the next expedition!

RIP,
Thanks for your kind comments and the Stormy Daniels reference! She is constantly on my mind. (chuckle.)
The family is very excited about this trip.
That video is still up on YouTube. "Brian Hunts Cape Buffalo".

RIP, With 120 grains of N550 powder per cartridge, I sure went through a pound of powder in a hurry. And CEB Bullets.

Hogbreath, You know, you are right, it isn't fun!
It is very satisfying when shooting a buffalo at close range. And under those conditions the recoil feels more like a 458 or 416. You can get close and run that big slug through his heart and for a guy like me that is really fun. But at the range, I am getting to dread it.

It has, theoretically, three times the recoil of a 375 HH. It has nearly twice the power charge of a 458 WM. Fun in the Veld, facing a cape buffalo. It's the shits on the range. Brian
