Does anyone have a McMillan CZ 550 magnum stock? If so how does it handle? Is the forearm thick and blocky or narrow? How is the grip angle? Is it swept back or nearer to vertical? Overall, how does the stock work for offhand shooting?

Here is a photograph of mine on a 416 Rigby.

The picture may answer some of your questions. I find with the factory barrel that it is a little too long for quick off-hand shooting. A shorter barrel would allow for a little quicker swing.

The stock handles perfectly for its intended purpose.

It is designed for use with a scope. You have to scrunch your face down to use the iron sights.

I agree with Wink about taking 2" off the end of the barrel for balance.

It works quite well for offhand shooting.

Matt that posts on this board from time to time has a 21" 460 weatherby in the McMillan cz stock... maybe he will post a pic of it. The design does lend itself to stock crawling (but so do most).... I wish the stock would have more drop... and most important... a shorter more narrow forend, something that is rare in todays world.

I am back from a long Hiatus... or whatever.
Take care.

I have one on my 585 Nyati. So far so good. The stock is well made and fits me well. I have no complaints.-Rob
