Steve: I have not shot any of the Hornady softs on game, but the one Speer that I recovered held together quite well. The Speer AGS bullets are expensive, but I don't shoot that many of them, except when hunting, where the cost of the bullet is minor compared to the rest of the hunt. Dave

Dave, Thanks for the follow-up. I knew that the AGS were expensive. I don't mind that expense when hunting either. I just hope that I don't go broke trying to work up the loads... -Steve

Steve, I have shot a bit of thin skinned game with the Hornady 300 gr Round Nose .375 bullet and found it to be soft indeed. I shot one grassy of medium build from the rear end as it was hunched over feeding at around 70 paces, bullet penetrated spine and hip bone all of the paunch and ended up under the hide of the chest, I was dumbfounded and I expected that Hornady 300 gr RN to give me an exit, if it could not full length penetrate thin skinned grassy of around 150 pounds (guess) then I fail to see it working on a buff, I did get a good result with them on a couple of boars in the Gulf of Carpentaria, broad side shots however. All the same that bullet would work fine for deer etc. But for heavier game I would like to step up to the woodleigh 300 gr protected point or RN.

PC, Wow, that's not good. I like to use the premium stuff when hunting big game. It's a minimal expense when considering the over all expense and risks of bullet failure. Thanks!! -Steve
