Thanks for the effort, but the same thing happened. To bad there is not a regular picture for us dial-up types.

It's an enormous flintlock with a fairly light load shot at a clay bird of some sort. The smiles look sincere. The video quality is pretty poor but I will post a picture when my host server gets back online. (In the windows media player, pause on the frame you want, hit print screen and then paste it onto a new page in any MS product and save as a jpg file.

Some details about the gun from the posters there: "The only name on the gun is cast under the tang, Mewis of B'ham. It's a 0.96" civilian wall piece circa 1790, weighs around 28 lbs. It has a military lock with GR but no ordnance marks."

Apparently, under British law shotguns with a bore dia of up to 2 inches are permitted as long as the barrels are over 24 inches in length.

Mehul, thank you for the link. The rifle looks like it is in great shape, and the lock is huge. It looks like it takes about 50 pounds of force to pull that hammer back.
