Per577 and Overkill, I really think you would like the benefits from joining our fast growing club. For your $35 per year you get some pretty interesting information, I'll list what I can remember. -You get acsess to the members section of the Fifty Caliber Shooters Ass. web sight with the use of a personal i.d. and password. -You get a product suppliers book filled with companies that supply products and services for 50 BMG shooters, which include e-mail addresses if they have them. I believe the list has grown to nearly 300 different companies. -You get a very nice membership patch. -You can shoot in any of the FCSA 50 BMG shoots. -You get updates laws and bills associated with the 50 BMG and other big bore rounds. -And yes you get a years worth of Very High Power magazine which is printed quarterly. This magazine deals mostly with the 50 BMG as an extreme range target round, but there are also articles from time to time about hunting with the 50 BMG and wildcatting this great case, both larger and smaller. Also all back issues are available to the membership at a very reasonable price. The address for the FCSA is www.fcsa.org You can not join on-line as well. There is also a chat board on the sight as well. Hope this helps, we as 50 BMG shooters have been fighting a ferocious fight here in the USA to keep our rifles, the more members and widespread we get the better chance we will have to fight off the politicians. Good Shooting!!! 50

Let me correct myself, You CAN join online!!! As far as bullets, the 775 gr solid in the data is the same length as the 1000gr Woodleigh bullet and it is of truncated cylinder shape. 50

Fiftydriver, what type of rifle are you using. Like to discuss 50bmg. I have 2 rifles in that caliber. I have to agree with your reply about the velocity of a AMax pushed to 2900fps. One of my rifles has a 36inch barrel. Rifle weighs 48lbs. Been shooting 50's for about 14 years. Been a member of the FCSA for that long also. I usually keep my velocity at 2700fps for best accuracy.

Well. it sure sounds interesting, but when living in another country, means we may not benfit from all those advantages you listed. And we (ovrkill) and i have to wait very long to get that magazine. It seems like there are more disadvantages instead, so i am in doubt(naturally). What do you say to this ???? ------------------------------------------ Per"doubtsome"577 ------------------------------------------

quote: Bob G. I shoot the LAR Grizzly Big Boar with the match chamber. Before I purchased my Grizzly, I test fired four different 50's to see what I liked the best, I was very fortunate to have connections to 50 shooters willing to let me try their big guns out, but as I have learned, this is the attitude of the FCSA and all its members to help and inform all other shooters with an amazing willingness and helpfulness. The rifles I test fired were the LAR(standard chamber), Barrett M82, Stevenson Bolt rifle and a Mc Bros action match rifle. Of the four, the McBros was by far my first choice, felt and shot like my fine custom varmint rifles but could not afford this beatiful rifle. The Stevenson rifle was an accurate rifle but the one I shot had an offset scope mount and didn't care for it that much. Also only had a 28" barrel. The Barrett is an amazing rifle but price and accuracy disqualified this one for me. I'm not saying they aren't accurate, just that on that day with the loads I was using, this rifle didn't do as well as I hoped it would. The LAR, while a bit odd looking at first, offered the most features that I wanted for the bast price. I wanted a rifle at or under 30 pounds as I wanted to use it for limited hunting and long range varminting. I wanted a 36" barrel to get as much performance as possible(like the 50 doesn't have plenty out of any rifle barrel), and I wanted quality but couldn;t afford over $3000 for the rifle. I have been very happy with my LAR and been very impressed with its quality. the rifle has proven capable of 3-4" three shot groups at 1000 yards but I can't say that the pilot can do that all the time. I agree that 2700 fps is about tops for accuracy with the 750 gr A-Max, at least in my rifle, anything over that in my 32 pound Grizzly gets a bit snappy in recoil anyway. What rifles/optic setup are you shooting? What loads are you using? Good to hear from another FCSA member, we need alot more around. Good Shooting!! 50
