I can't give up on the idea of converting the Ruger rings on my RSM 375 to quick release. Falcon Industries sold their conversion lever tooling to Tennesse Gun Parts, who isn't making them. Brownell's doesn't have a solution either. The Warne rings are an option but aren't the classic look I want on this gun.

Give me some feedback on this idea. I've got some extra Warne levers lying around. The nut in the Warne lever is 10/32, same size as the screw and nut on the Ruger rings. The Ruger screw doesn't come completely through the Ruger nut. By putting a short (1/2") 10/32 screw through the Warne lever and into the slotted end of the Ruger nut and tightening it down, one could essentially loctite the Warne lever onto the outside of the Ruger nut, making it quick release.

Mechanically I think it will work. The lever will clear the ring with the right amount of clearance. Is this too cobbled up for a 375 bound for Africa?

gusbus,
I actually tried that, but I used JB Weld instead of Loctite. I concluded that it was standing too proud of the rifle side (would snag everything in the bush) and too hard to get the levers to line up properly to the preferred recoil/inertial tightening position.

In retrospect, the brass washers on the Falcon Industries levers are so soft that the levers do not return to the same position on subsequent replacement. I need to drill out some steel washers and see if they serve better.

Overall, I prefer just carrying a Mossberg choke wrench or a large brass token in my pocket to unscrew the ruger slotted nuts for "QD."

No snagging of your hand or the brush on those, like with any lever QD ring.

Gus, send me a PM. I do all the stock duplicating, bolt welding, and machine work for Tennessee Gun Parts. I think I have some of the kits you are referring to, I will dig around the shop tomorrow and check on pricing. As far as I know we are going to offer the levers, it just takes time. TGP only acquired Falcon Ind. this past summer. There was alot of unique parts and projects sold with that company, we are trying to get some of them out.

If you need levers, the falcon levers are the way to go. They look proper w/ the Ruger ringmounts and function. I agree w/ RIP that the levers do snag whereas the std Ruger nuts do not. The rifle I put the falcon levers on would easily snag on a scabbard I was using. No matter how I would orient the levers, they would snag either going in or coming out.

I now just reach into my pocket and grab a small choke wrench and remove and/or install the scope just as quick as w/ the levers.

Sooner

Drop me a PM when you are going to have some available. I would like a couple of sets for my RSM's. I still like using the levers.
