Well you ask action worth 50 dollars A@B barrel are cheap just check midway. Dies I just brought a like new set for 416 taylor for 30 dollars rest of the stuff 50 to 100 depending how bad some one wants one. I brought last year several sporterized mausers with scopes and after market stocks one with a vary high quality barrel in 338/06 for 200 dollars each. My guess would be if you can get 200 to 300 you well be doing what the market well bear.

Seriously thinking of selling a 416 Taylor w/ dies - I'm more into the classic Mauser cartridges these days, and would probably replace it (some day) with a classically styled 10.75x68, or perhaps just buy a CZ-550. But how much could I expect to get out of it? VZ-24 action, A&B barrel, Dakota rear / NECG Masterpiece front sights, Talley sling band, bolt handle; B&C Carbelite stock, needs some bedding; Argentine bottom metal; single stage (FN style) trigger; standard flag safety; drilled and tapped for 8-40 screws, but no scope bases installed. RCBS dies. It may not be worth selling, thus my question re: what it might bring. Thanks, Todd

Todd, P Dog shooter is on the far wrong end of the prices... but proably accurate for a small caliber shooter... his prices are dead wrong... here's what it COSTS to build vz-85 bucks, before any cleanup barrel 110 sights 165 stock 85 1903 bottom metal 100 dies 35 bucks looks MUCH closer to 500 than 200 from here.... you rust blued this right? And the action you did quite a bit of clean up on? I would imagine that 400 to 600 is a good range... and darn cheap one at that. If someone wants to dicker on that... show up at your gunsmith's with a vz 24 action, an AB barrel (which MUST BE HEADSPACED with a reamer, for every gun except savages) and the rest of the parts... then ask them to rust blue it... and then choke jeffe

Todd. Keep it. Don't sell it. You will want it back. You can do alot with it by switching barrels. It is a cheap investment in experimental tools if you don't want to call it a rifle. The 416 is one of my favorites. I built my first one on the cheap and it turned into one of my favorite rifles loaded up and down. For sure you could get from $400 to $500 what with the move towards the big-bore nationally. This certainly is the place to sell or trade but my vote is to keep it. Frank
